Mildred Bernice Sneed Morgan, 68, of Athens, passed away on Tuesday, March 15, 2016, at her home.
She was a member of West End Baptist Church and a retired nurse. She began her nursing career at Epperson Hospital after graduating in the first nursing class at the now Tennessee College of Applied Technology at Athens. She retired in 2013 after more than 36 years of service to Woods Memorial Hospital where she specialized in intensive care nursing. She enjoyed reading, crocheting and traveling. She was always kind, loving and caring to others, sharing her knowledge and talents freely.
A lifelong resident of McMinn County, she was preceded in death by her father, Samuel Preston Sneed; her brother, Sammy Lee Sneed; and sisters-in-law, Bernice Roderick Sneed and Nancy Watson Sneed.
Survivors include her mother, Sara Pauline Sneed of Athens; and one brother, Donny Sneed of Athens; two daughters, Lisa Morgan of Snellville, Ga., and Wanda Morgan of Athens; and one grandson, Tyler Morgan of Athens; one stepson and daughter-in-law, Paul and Tina Morgan of Riceville; several nieces, nephews and cousins; and lifelong friends and colleagues, Dorothy Cox, Edwina Dossett and Henrietta Shadden.
Graveside services will be 2 p.m. Saturday at McMinn Memory Gardens with the Rev. Herman Jordan officiating.
Pallbearers will be Paul Morgan, David Leonard, Chris Leonard, Adam Leonard, Hugh Sneed, and David Shaver.
At the request of the family, there will be no formal visitation.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the American Cancer Society, c/o Faye Forgety, 120 County Road 447, Athens, TN 37303.
