Mary Douglas (Hinds) Howe was my great grandmother. She was the daughter of Judge Andrew and Sarah (Gibler) Hinds. She married Joseph Franklin Howe on August 11, 1881. She was given the middle name Douglas because her parents admired Abraham Lincoln's opponent in the the presidential race.

My grandmother, Letha F (Howe) Thorp was one of the nine children born to Mary and Joseph Howe.
