JAMES GIBBONS AGED RESIDENT IS DEAD
James Gibbons of 1421 W 4th Street died suddenly on Friday morning suffering the infirmities of old age. His son James E Gibbons attended him at 5am and he was sleeping peacefully. His daughter Anna found him later lifeless. He had been in poor health for the last 8 months.
Mr. Gibbons was born in Ireland and came to this country at an early age locating in Westerly Rhode Island. While in Westerly he learned the granite business. Between 1859-60 the Pennsylvania Railroad was being built and he secured a subcontract in Sunbury with headquarters at St. Mary's. During the Civil War he served in the Navy under Admiral Farragut during the blockade on the southern coasts.
He is survived by his wife and three children:James, The Rev. Edmund F Gibbons of Buffalo Supt of the Parochial schools and Anna at home.
