At age seven, Margy was raised by Wilbur Cornman along with her mother Madelene. Margy attended North High School in Des Moines and then attended and graduated from Beauty School. The Lawson family of Dexter, who are relatives of Margy, introduced Margy to Wilbur Carter at a Sunday School Party. This acquaintance resulted in a marriage on December 5, 1940 in Des Moines, Iowa and lasted for 58 years until Wilbur's death in 1999. To this union five children were born: Sharilynn, Ronald, Dale, Gary, and Randy. Margy loved taking pictures and sharing them with family. She also loved her long-haired kittens. Margy and Wilbur spent 50 years farming south of Stuart and Dexter. Margy worked as a nurse's aide at the Dexter Clinic until it closed. Margy was a member of the Grace Baptist Church of Winterset. She loved the farm and her work at the clinic.
Margy leaves the following family to celebrate her life: daughter Sharilynn Algreen and husband Ronald of Dexter; son Ronald and wife Karen of Ankeny; son Dale and wife Linda of Des Moines; son Gary and wife Jolene of Mills, Wyoming; son Randy and wife Lynn of Ankeny; sister Jeanie Jarman and husband Ernest of Walker, Minnesota; 14 grandchildren: Pam, Deb, Bruce, Kristen, Jennifer, Eric, Chad, Jason, Ryan, Brandi, Tyler, Jaime, Courtney, and Joshua; 16 great-grandchildren: Travis, Coty, Jesse, Cade, Amie, Ben, Kaeli (Kaylee), Taija (Taya), Shaye, Ethan, Skyler, Dylan, Madison, Cade, Natasha,and Taylor; and one soon to arrive great great-grandchild.
