Lois Yokley, age 91, of St. John, ND passed away on Saturday, March 12, 2016 at Trinity Hospital, Minot, ND.

Lois Mae was born on August 21, 1924 in Ontario, California to Charles and Frankie (Reed) Allen. She was also lovingly known as “Grandma Billie” to her family and many people throughout the community. Lois was raised in California and attended school there as well. She was united in marriage to Garland Yokley on January 3, 1970 in Oregon. He preceded her in death. Lois lived in California and Oregon in her earlier years and then made her home in the St. John area. She worked at the William Langer Jewel Bearing Plant for many years and also sold Stanley Products. She co-owned St. John Hardware with her husband for many years as well. Lois loved her family dearly, from visiting and traveling with her children and grandchildren to talking with her sister, Dorothy, every day. One of her favorite things to do was to sit on the deck and watch the birds with her dogs, as she was an avid dog lover. She liked to relax and enjoy her flowers and her view of the yard. Lois also enjoyed watching her music television programs and the Price is Right and collecting sea shells. She also liked to crochet and if asked what was for supper, “pizza and ice cream” was the favorite, along with some dark chocolate. Lois loved life and knew she was truly blessed with a wonderful, loving family that she was so very proud of, especially her grandchildren. Lois will be greatly missed and a void will be felt within her family and throughout her community.

Lois is survived by her sons, David (Carol) Hoover of St. John, Art (Carol) Yri of Plano, TX, and Robert (Lynn) Yri of Minnewaukan; nine grandchildren, Charles (Tammy) Hoover, Sarah (Judd) Bruce, Russell (Dinah) Hoover, Monte (Kensie) Hoover, Jeremy (Nikki) Hoover, Janardan (Liz) Yri, Chandra (Andy) Vernum, Sara (Mike) Zeiler, and Mike (Alaina) Yri; 23 great grandchildren, Charlie Hoover, David Hoover, Sam Hoover, Vaughn Bruce, Savannah (Slade) Stringer, Larissa Hoover, Russell “RJ” Hoover, Darin Hoover, Alex Hoover, Cole Hoover, Kristen LaFountain, Molly Hoover, Payton Hoover, Austin Hoover, Taylor Hoover, Lindy Hoover, Andrew Hanretty, Emily Williams, Natalie Williams, Madeline Zeiler, Lucas Yri, Alivia Yri, and Bryce Yri; great great grandchild, Tallen Stringer; sister, Dorothy Hanlan of St. John; and many nieces and nephews.

Lois was preceded in death by her parents, step-father, Hobert Taylor, husband, Garland Yokley, son, William “Bill” Fisher, and sister, Lodene “Deenie“ Smith.
