Robert A. Battles, 86, of Harmonsburg died at 4:20 pm Thursday in Spencer Hospital, Meadville, are an illness of several months. He was born in Crawford County Sept. 1, 1883, son of H.H. and Jane Kaiser Battles.

He operated a dairy farm in the Utica area for many years, and most of his life was spent in that area. He was a member of the Cochranton Odd Fellows Lodge and the Lebanon Community Church.

He married Alice M. Lees who died in 1950. In 1953 he married Mrs. Vada C. Cowder Collins, who survives, with a daughter, Mrs. Myron T. (Minnie) Smith of Utica; three sons, Harold L. of Marietta, GA, Ralph E. of Linesville RD 1, and Robert G. of Harmonsburg; two step-daughters, Mrs. Sylvia Newell and Mrs. Jeanne Deemer of Franklin; a step-son. Clifford W. Collins of Ontario, CA; 20 grandchildren; 30 great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. Deceased is a son, Wayne.

Services will be at 2:30 pm tomorrow at Burger Funeral Home with Rev. John Freeberg, his pastor, officiating. Interment will be in Franklin Cemetery.
