Brooks, Olene Hall, 68, of Amelia Courthouse, Va. went to be with her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ unexpectedly. Olene was born on January 25, 1948 in Amelia, Va., daughter of James Camedon and Charlotte Margaret Hall. Mrs. Brooks was a dedicated and loving mother, grandmother "Nan", sister, aunt "Shuggie" and wife. Olene held all of her family very near and dear to her heart, they came first and all could feel her love as she spread it to everyone. She was a devoted Christian woman whose faith in God was unwavering. Olene obtained her cosmetology license at a young age recognizing the joy it gave her and those whom she made look and feel beautiful. She later followed her passion and became a devoted caregiver by receiving her Certified Nursing Assistant certification. Those skills followed her throughout her life as she continued to provide loving care to those within her family and community. She was so proud the day she passed her GED exam, exhibiting an overall radiant glow of confidence in herself and her abilities. Olene was a strong, loving, selfless mother and grandmother unto her last breath. Olene was married to her husband, Woodell "Woody E. Brooks for 21 years. She is survived by her sisters, Marie Bryant, Odessa Warden and Ilene Mills; her daughters Sherri William, Stephanie Caudill and Sheila Smith. She was also survived by her granddaughters Shawntae R.A. Smith and Dana Darlene William; grandsons, Zacherie N. and Ashton C. Caudill, Curtis James William and Zion E. Farrar, who lovingly referred to her as "Nanny". Services will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday, March 12th at Grace Harvest Baptist Church in Amelia, Va., Burial services will be at Little Flock Primitive Baptist Cemetery in Amelia, Va. Reception will follow at Grace Harvest Baptist Church for everyone to visit and celebrate Olene and Woody's life. Family will receive family and friends from 2 to 4 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m. at Hillsman-Hix Funeral Home in Amelia, Va. on Friday, March 11th. In lieu of flowers, contributions in memory of Olene may be made to Bethematch.org, a bone marrow transplant organization, or Amelia Volunteer Rescue Squad.
