Charles Johan (Johannesson) Stromquist: Changed last name from Johannesson to Stromquist as people were pronouncing his name as Johnson. Born Mörlunda Parish, Småland Province, Sweden. He came to America in 1867 and to Fremont Dec. of 1869 and homesteaded and farmed at Fremont until 1897. He moved to Lindsborg where he built a new home. He was one of the founders of the Freemount Lutheran Church and a member of the Board of Directors of Bethany College for 25 yeas. He served as County Commissioner, County Treasurer, Kansas Legislature Representative and one of the founders and the secretary of the Swedish-American Insurance Company.
