Sherl Lorn McDonald, 90, died Thursday, March 10, 2016, at the Arbuckle Memorial Hospital, Sulphur, Oklahoma. Son of the late Carl Otis and Tressie Cline McDonald, Sherl was born April 17, 1925, at Madill, Oklahoma.

A graduate of Madill High School, the class of 1943, Sherl was a self-employed carpenter. He had worked for Bob Fraley Lumber Company, prior to becoming a cabinet maker. He had done carpentry and cabinetry work in many Ardmore homes.

He and Naomi Barnes were married August 4, 1956. Naomi preceded him in death, December 26, 2006.

In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by his first wife Sadie; sons, Sherl Ray and Gary McDonald; a step- son, Larry Goss; and step-daughter, Mary Nell Duke.

Survivors include his daughter, Sharrian Ponder and her husband, Alvin Ray; step-son, Jim Goss; brother, Beryl McDonald; sister, Theda Webb; seven grandchildren and numerous great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m. Monday, March 14, 2016, in the Centennial Chapel of Harvey-Douglas Funeral Home and Crematory, officiated by Randall Ponder. Burial will be in the Lone Cedar Cemetery with Joe McDonald, Jeremy McDonald, Josh McDonald, Alvin Ponder, Dakata Ponder and Kenneth McDonald serving as pallbearers. Honorary will be Terry Stephens, Wayne Edgar, Floyd Webb and Earl McDonald.
