It has not known with any certainty whether Emanuel Henika was born in Germany or in New York. It is known that he had three wives. His first wife was Johanna "Hannah" Haner, daughter of Philip and Eva (Trevor) Heiner of West Sand Lake, Upper Albany (now Rensselaer) Co., NY. They supposedly had a total of 13 children, but it looks suspiciously like a couple of the younger ones may have been born to Emanuel's second wife. Emmanuel's second wife was Rachel ?, who lies buried in Lord Cemetery. His third wife was named Abigail or "Nabby." She survived him, as she is mentioned in his will.

Emanuel served as a Private in Colonel DuBois' Regiment of the 5th NY Line. His new bronze marker, the placement of which was arranged for by Francisco family descendant, Lyn Wilson, was dedicated on September 23rd, 2006. Emanuel's flags and wreath were placed, then his marker was unveiled by his 3rd great grandson, Morgan Henika.
