George was a son of George Thomas and Elizabeth McClerg Standish and a direct descendant of Myles Standish.
He served in the US Army during WW II.
He owned the Dansville Hotel, Village of Dansville, NY and George's Restaurant in Woodville (Town of South Bristol, NY)and as security guard at the VA in Canandaigua and the Finger Lakes Race Track.
He was married twice. His first wife was Marion Goodrich and they had three children. David, Richard and John. He then was married to Gertrude C. Cole and had two children; George Tobey and Scott.
