Services for Roy Harrison Baker, 41, Horseshoe Bend, killed yesterday in a logging accident near Scriver creek, were being arranged Saturday by the Summers chapel.
A native of Council, born Dec. 12, 1914, he had resided at Horseshoe Bend for 12 years.
He was married to Emma B. Neilsen Beyers May 24, 1937, at Horseshoe Bend.
Survivors in addition to his wife include a son, Noel Gene Baker; with the Army in Korea; a daughter, Laurel Baker; a stepson, Charles Beyers; a stepdaughter, Mrs. Allen Drake, all of Horseshoe Bend; four brothers; James L. Baker, Grangeville; William E. Baker, Horseshoe Bend; Albert R. Baker, Anatone, Wash.; and Wayne L. Baker, Council; three sisters: Mrs. Mae L. Merk, Weiser; Mrs. Grace W. Clemens, Grangeville; and Mrs. Lucille C. Balderson, Council; and live grandchildren.
Mr. Baker was working as a "hooker" for the Simplot Lumber company, and was struck on the head by a log while unloading logs, according to Frank Clarkston, justice of the peace and acting coroner.
