Alice M. Griswold
dies at age of 101

BELLINGHAM, Wash. - Alice M. Griswold, 101, Bellingham, formerly of St. Joseph, died Monday, May 4, 1992, at a health-care center here.

A native of St. Joseph, Mrs. Griswold was employed by the former Wyeth Hardware there, where she was one of the first telephone operators.

Her father, Martin L. Seip was the founder of the Second Presbyterian Church in St. Joseph, where she had been a member since 1905.

In 1978, Mrs. Griswold moved to Whatcom County, Wash. She also had formerly lived in Lynden, Wash.

She also was a member of the Everson, Wash., Presbyterian Church.

In 1927, she married Eugene Griswoid. He died in 1929.

Surviving: a daughter, Eleanor Ehrlich of Custer, Wash.; four grandchildren; and two great- grandchildren.

A memorial service was held Thursday, May 7, at the Everson Presbyterian Church. Burial was in the Ten Mile Cemetery.

Arrangements were by the Gillies Funeral Home, Lynden.
