Don Rogers, 74, of Big Spring died Tuesday, Sept, 12, 2006, in the Scenic Mountain Medical Center.

The funeral services was held at 10 a.m. Thursday, Sept. 14, 2006, in the Myers and Smith Chapel with the Rev. Ken McMeans, pastor of College Baptist Church, officiating.

A graveside service was held at 2 p.m. Thursday at the Sweetwater Cemetery in Sweetwater with the Rev. Bruce Parsons, pastor of Champion Baptist Church, officiating.

He was born May 24, 1932, in Clyde, to Lota and Floyd Rogers. He married Jane Lindsey on June 20, 1952, in Fort Worth. They moved to Big Spring in 1989 from Brownwood. She preceded him in death on July 3, 2005. He spent most of his life in Sweetwater and was a mechanic at auto dealerships there. He and his son later owned Rogers Automotive until 1983. Rogers retired from the Big Spring State Hospital in 1999. He was a avid hunter and fisherman, but his main hobby was his grandchildren.

He is survived by his daughter, Debbie Daniel and her husband, Joe, of Brownwood; one son, Mickey Rogers and his wife, Joyce, of Spur; two brothers, Billy Rogers of Sweetwater and Frank Rogers and his wife, Ruth, of Big Spring; one sister, Dean Priest and her husband, Gene, of Big Spring; eight grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.

In addition to his parents and wife, he was preceded in death by one son, Randy Rogers, in 1956.

Pallbearers were Larry Rogers, Michael Rogers, Richard Magee, Josh Briscoe, Kevin Matthews and Justin Bronnian.
