Orven was united in marriage on August 28, 1948 at Helmar Lutheran Church in Newark, IL, to the former Lois Christian and they spent the next 67 happy years of their lives together. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother, and uncle who will be deeply missed by his family and friends.
Mr. Clauson was an area farmer for 49 years. Orven was a lifetime member of Helmar Lutheran Church in Newark, IL where he served as a trustee and sang with the choir and the Helmar Men’s Quartet. He was formerly a Newark Grade School Board Member. In later years, Orven volunteered with Habitat for Humanity, the Helmar Food Pantry, and the Fox Lawn Water Board Association.
He is survived by his wife, Lois Clauson of Yorkville, IL; his children, Gary (Margie) Clauson of Newark, IL, Linda Clauson of Fort Mill, SC, and Roger (Marcie) Clauson of Aurora, IL; his seven grandchildren, Jenny, Ben (Mary), Michelle, Jacob, Craig (Amy), Alicia (fiancée Corey), and Nicole (Daniel); six great-grandchildren, Michael, Jason, Albert, Henry, Abigail, and Claire; his sister, Audrey Hodney of Oswego, IL; his sister-in-law, Violet Clauson of Davis, IL; as well as several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Simon and Mamie Clauson; his brothers, Duane, Sherlyn, and Myron Clauson; his sister, Reta Rae Clauson; his sister-in-law, Shirley Clauson; and his brother-in-law, O. Dean Hodney.
A Funeral Service will be held at 10:00 AM on Monday, March 14, 2016 at Helmar Lutheran Church, 11935 Lisbon Rd, Newark, IL with Pastor James Molstre officiating. Interment will follow in Helmar Lutheran Cemetery in Newark, IL.
Friends may visit from 1:00 PM until 4:00 PM on Sunday, March 13, 2016 at the Helmar Lutheran Church in Newark, IL.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be directed to the Helmar Food Pantry, the Helmar Lutheran Church Foundation, or a charity of the donor’s choice.
