George Manuel Romo, 44, died Monday, Sept. 25, 2006, at his home in Garden City. He was born April 4, 1962, in Pleasanton, Texas, to Primitivo A. Jr. and Mary Ann Rosales Romo. The family moved to Sharon Springs in 1966, moving from Post, Texas. They then lived in Lakin and Holcomb before moving to Garden City in 1973. He graduated from Holcomb High School in 1980. Mr. Romo was a member of St. Mary Catholic Church. His hobbies included having family gatherings, fishing, listening to music, playing pool and dominoes, helping his parents with yard work and watching the Dallas Cowboys. Survivors include a son, George Michael Romo, and four daughters, Bridgett Romo, Charlene Aldana, Heidi Romo and Ivy Lei Romo, all of Garden City; his parents, of Garden City; three brothers, John Romo of Newton, and Isedro and Samuel Joe Romo, both of Garden City; three sisters, Mary Esther Guerrero of Wichita, Joann Perez of Clinton, Okla., and Louisa Delarosa of Garden City; his grandmother, Concepcion Romero of Post; five grandchildren; several nieces and nephews; and an adopted aunt, Viola Arteaga of Garden City. He was preceded in death by his grandfathers and a grandmother. Vigil service and rosary will be 7 tonight at St. Mary Catholic Church, Garden City. Funeral will be 2 p.m. Thursday at the church, officiated by the Rev. Carlos Garcia-Pena, S.J. Burial will be in Valley View Cemetery, Garden City.
