Estella W. Balser, 96, of Hicksville, died Wednesday, March 9, 2016 at Hickory Creek at Hicksville, surrounded by her family.

Estella was born on April 4, 1919 in Hancock County, Ohio, the daughter of the late William and Leona (Lindsey) Businger. She was the last of 13 siblings to survive.

Estella graduated from Mark Center in 1938 and from The Wayne University of Cosmetology in Ft. Wayne, Indiana in 1942.

On April 18, 1944, she married Lynn W. Balser, a veteran of WWII, who passed away in 1991.They set up housekeeping on a farm in rural Mark Township where they raised their family of eight children. All her life, Estella loved both vegetables and flower gardening and had a real green thumb when it came to raising plants.

Estella will be sadly missed by her children, Jeff Balser, Linda (Dominick) Varano, Wanda (Stan) Stuckey, Dennis (Bobbie) Balser, Greg (Kathy) Balser, Mark Balser, Ken (Beth) Balser; (20) grandchildren and (26) great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her son, Darwin (Tammy) Balser and grandson, Dominick Varano.

Funeral services for Estella will be Saturday at 11:00 at Smith & Brown Funeral Home, Hicksville. Visitation will be Friday from 3-8 at the funeral home.

Burial will be in Lost Creek Cemetery, Hicksville.
