Obituary in The Shreveport Times Dec. 29, 2002:

SHREVEPORT, LA - Mrs. Ruby B. Shoemaker, 81, died at Willis-Knighton Pierremont on Saturday, December 28, 2002 after a lengthy illness. Funeral services will begin at 1 p.m. on Monday, December 30, 2002 in the chapel of Osborn Funeral Home. Officiating will be Rev. Mike Stowell of First Baptist Church, Keithville, LA. Interment will follow at Centuries Memorial Park Cemetery.

Mrs. Shoemaker was a native of Mt. Olive, MS and a resident of Shreveport for 61 years. She was retired from Selber Brothers and Dillards. She was a very active member of Calvary Baptist Church. Mrs. Shoemaker was preceded in death by her husband, R. G. Shoemaker and her granddaughter, Sara.

She is survived by her three children, Glen Shoemaker of Shreveport, Jack Shoemaker and wife, Caren of Baton Rouge, LA and Margo Shoemaker, and Dianne Purl of Dallas, TX; four grandchildren, Jaime, Jackson, and wife, Kayla, Mark and Ashley Shoemaker; great grandchild, Bradley James Shoemaker; nephew, Jerald Kessler; and her beloved Rascal.

Pallbearers will be Jim Easterling, Steve Allen, Lane Hunnicutt, Tommy Gay, Doug Moran and Raymond. Honorary pallbearers will be Dr. Nealan Prather and Dr. Joyce Feagin. The family requests that memorials be made to the American Cancer Society or the SPCA. The family would like to express their sincere appreciation to Willis-Knighton Lifecare Pierremont, Dr. David Green and Dr. David Abdehou.
