Lovis Hershell Adkins, 59, of 1547 Clover St, died at 7:55 p.m. Sunday in the Veterans Administration Hospital after a lengthy illness.

The Homer native had lived in Shreveport 12 years and was a retired employee of Gibson's Discount Center. Mr. Adkins was a World War II veteran and a member of the Central Church of Christ.

The funeral will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday in Wellman's Funeral Home Chapel. Officiating will be Gary Knighton of Central Church of Christ and Horace Hampton of Southern Hills Church of Christ. Burial will be in Old Town Cemetery at Haynesville.

Mr. Adkins' survivors include his wife, Pauline Adkins; two sons, Richard Wayne Adkins of Bossier City and Barry H. Adkins of Shreveport; a daughter, Mrs. Walter Ezernack Jr., of Keithville; a brother, Alma Adkins of Odessa, TX; a sister, Mrs. Harold Turner of Minden; and two grandchildren.

Pallbearers will be E. C. Rheudasil, C. W. Kelly, Woodrow Morrow, Billy Walker, Walter Ezernack Jr., and Garry Knighton.
