A great generational mother of four children, 12 grandchildren and six great-grandchildren, Marilyn was born during the Great Depression on a farm in Monticello, Minnesota. She was was one of 15 children.
She served her country in WWII in the airplane industry in Southern California. She was a tireless worker over her lifetime, employed at the Boeing Company, Oberto Sausage Company, and Frederick & Nelson, in Seattle. She was married for 60 years to George H. Magruder, a Seattle native. They resided in Cashmere, before he passed on January 11, 2006. George was also a veteran of WWII and local Seattle athletics professional and coach. Marilyn was servant of all who touched her life. Humble and selfless, she never turned away a person in need. She will be eternally missed by her family who embraced her discipline, work ethic, resilience and zeal for life. Marilyn will be missed for her graciousness, hospitality and warm hearted attitude.
She leaves behind two daughters, Barbara Vanells, of Everett, and Michele McSpaden, of Mukilteo, Washington; and two sons, Mace Magruder, of Fresno, California, and Shaun Magruder of Snohomish, Washington.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m., on September 16, 2006, at Beaver Creek Cemetery, four miles East of Twisp, Washington.
