Susan M Underwood (daughter of Reuben Underwood and Elizabeth Clubb) was b. abt 1806 in NC. She married Ambrosia Cobb the 14th of March 1824 in Lincoln Co, NC - per her Mother's pension she filed during Civil War on son Ephraim's service - Ambrose Cobb was born in Lincoln Co, NC abt 1797 - his parents were William Cobb and Mary Polly Abernathy.Ambrose and Susan stayed in NC for several years and then moved to Rutherford Co, TN and had the following children:

Jacob Sidney Cobb 1830–1900 m. Rebecca Jane Alba

Robert Winchester Cobb 1833–1896 m. Sarah G Arnold

George L. Cobb 1835–1910 m. Susan Clemens

James Nathaniel Cobb 1839–1912 m.1 Mary King. 2. Polina Willingham

Sarah Cobb 1842–1870 m. Nathan Beckwith

Sophia Minerva Cobb 1843–1927 m. Oscar Crane

Several of their married children (Elizabeth Cobb Jones, Robert Winchester Cobb, moved to Lee Co, Iowa along with Ambrosia, Susan, and their minor children,James, Sarah, Sophia, Ephraim, John W Cobb. Martha Ellen "Mattie" Cobb was born Mar 1855 in Lee Co, Iowa.
James Nathaniel met and married Mary King in Putnam, Missouri in May 1858. They too, moved to Iowa (Mary's family included) 1860 census has all families there.
After Ambrose passed away in 1863, his widow Susan and the children that followed them to Iowa (except James) joined other family that were in Saline Co, Missouri. After Susan died, the remaining children and their families settled in Bates Co, Missouri
