Robert Dean Hickman, of Colonial Beach, passed away Tuesday, March 1, 2016 at Mary Washington Hospital.
He was born on December 19, 1930 in Beallsville, Ohio to the late Ray and Velma Hickman.
Robert was a retired union carpenter and served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War. He was a member of the V.F.W. Post 10574, American Legion Post 0148 and the Ruritan Club of Edinburg, VA.
In addition to his parents, Robert was preceded in death by a son, Mark Hickman.
He is survived by his loving and devoted wife of 62 years, Shirley Hickman; two sons, Michael Hickman (Nancy) and Bob Hickman; daughter in law, Brenda Hickman Montgomery (Terry); two grandchildren, Joshua and Erica Montgomery.
The family will receive friends from 5 to 7 p.m. Thursday, March 3 at Nash & Slaw Funeral Home, Colonial Beach with a service beginning at 7 p.m.
Interment will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, March 7 in Quantico National Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Colonial Beach Rescue Squad, 225 Dennison St., Colonial Beach, VA 22443.
