George Hlavaty of 842 North Colorado died Friday at his home. He had been ill for about six months and hospitalized a part of that time. Hlavaty, who was 87 years of age at the time of his death was a native of Falls City where he was born. He resided in the Lawrence community before coming to Hastings in 1917; and he and Mrs. Hlavaty celebrated their 63rd wedding anniversary last October. He leaves his wife Eva; sons and a daughter, Andrew of San Bernardino, Calif. Carl, Wilford and Mrs. Mabel Grothaus of Hastings, 11 grandchildren and 18 great grandchildren. Services were held in the Butler-Volland Chapel and burial in Parkview cemetery. The Rev. Paul M. deFreese, pastor of First St. Paul's Lutheran Church of which Hlavaty was a member, officiated. George had three brothers; William, John, and Samuel who was his twin. George's father, Vaclav, was born in Czechoslovakia and mother, Mary, was born in Bohemia.
