Joseph Northrop Sweet, was born near Yorkshire, Iowa, June 25th 1878, and died at his home in Persia, May 8th 1929, age 51 years, 11 months and 16 days.

He was an up right honest, industrial man who took great pride in his home. He has for the past years made his home with his mother and was her support and comfort.

We shall miss him from our midst, but shall find comfort in the knowledge that he is now safely at home with his Savior in Heaven, where no sorrow is known.

He was a member of the Latter Day Saints church. At the time he was taken ill he was street commissioner and marshall for the town of Persia.

He leaves to mourn his death, his mother, Mrs. Mary Sweet; seven sisters, Mrs. T. A. Hughes of near Persia; Mrs. Matt Lear and Mrs. George Thomas of Council Bluffs; Mrs. Charley Downey of near Portsmouth; Mrs. Martin Eims of near Neola; Mrs. Vivian Rouse of Omaha and Mrs. Charles Peterson of Persia; two brothers, William of Persia and Roy of Houghton, South Dakota; seventeen nephews; ten neices and a great many friends.

The funeral was held Friday afternoon at 2 o'clock conducted by Elder Fry of Woodbine. Burial was in the Yorkshire cemetery beside his father.
