A grandson of Daniel Brown, a soldier of the revolution. George was a son of the late Jess and Amy Mason Brown.
Three children were born to George and Mary Cary Brown, two of whom survive.
Surviving are his widow; two sons, Fred H. Brown and Cary L. Brown, both of Syracuse; and one sister, Mrs. Cynthia Stephens of Lowville.
He was predeceased by her daughter, Mrs. Hattie Brown Van Namee in 1903.
