Asa Stewart Barnes,77,of Water St.,Ludlow,died at 1 a.m. Feb.27,1963,in Warren General Hospital.He had been in failing health for the past year.
Mr.Barnes was born on Whig Hill on July 16,1885,and had resided in Ludlow for 40 years.He had been employed as a stationary engineer for Curtis Leather Co.in Ludlow until its closing.He attended the Methodist Church in Sheffield.
Surviving are a daughter,Mrs.Ralph J.(Laura Mae)Sharron of Gowanda,NY.;two brothers and a sister,Clifford Barnes of Sugar Grove;Walter Barnes and Mrs.Laura Rudolph of Warren;also three grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
The Rev.Jack Parsons,pastor of First Methodist Church in Sheffield,will officiate for the funeral service at 2 p.m. Saturday.Burial will follow in Gibbs Hill Cemetery in Ludlow.
