Bruce Morton Garver is the manager of this Memorial and the author of the following "bio" of Dr. Albert S. Garver who is Bruce's second cousin three-times-removed. Bruce is the great-great grandson of John Henry Garver (1823-1895) who is a first cousin to Colonel William Garver (1816-1895), the father of Dr. Albert S. Garver. During the American Civil War, John Henry Garver served as a Private in Company "B" of the 9th Regiment of Ohio Volunteer Infantry. John Henry Garver's first cousin, William Garver, served as the Colonel of the 101st Regiment of Indiana Volunteer infantry.

BIRTH & PARENTS: Albert S. Garver was born on September 19, 1861. at Noblesville, seat of Hamilton County, Indiana, to William Garver (1816-1895), and his second wife, Eliza Jane (Ray) Garver (1833-1870), a daughter of Esther [Booker] Ray and James Brown Ray (1794-1848), the fourth Governor of the state of Indiana. Of William and Eliza Jane (Ray) Garver's eight children, Albert S. Garver was the seventh to be born.

DR. ALBERT S. GARVER's SEVEN SIBLINGS are here listed in the order of their birth:
(1) Dr. William Ray Garver, M.D. (1854–1944) wed Emma Una (Detchon) Garver and with her raised three children who are listed here in the order of their birth: (i) Martha Helen (Garver) Reynolds-Ames (1883–1927), (ii) Irwin Leonard Garver (1887–1949), and (iii) Emory Detchon Garver (1892–1935). During the Spanish-American War, Dr. William Ray Garver, M.D. served in the Hospital Corps of the U.S. Army. After this War, he resumed is medical practice at Crawfordsville, seat of Montgomery County, Indiana, where he died at the age of ninety on September 3, 1944, and was interred several days later at Riverside Cemetery in Noblesville, seat of Hamilton County, Indiana. Dr. William Ray Garver, M.D., had outlived all but the youngest of his seven siblings.
(2) Franklin George "Frank" Garver was born during March 1858, did not wed, and died at the age of seventy-eight on November 18, 1936, at Dallas in Dallas County, Texas.
(3) Jesse B. Garver was born on Sept. 26, 1859, never married, and died on May 2, 1937, in Anchorage, Alaska, where he is interred at Anchorage Park Memorial Cemetery.
(4) Katie E. Garver was born on June 14, 1861, and died at the age of thirteen months on July 14, 1862, in Noblesville, seat of Hamilton County, Indiana, where she is interred at Riverside Cemetery.
(5) Leonard James Garver was born on June 17, 1862, became an ordained minister in the Congregational Church and the pastor of congregations in California and Washington state.. Leonard James Garver never wed. He died at the age of 58 on March 13, 1921, at Pasco, seat of Franklin County, Washington, where he had served as pastor of the local Congregational Church. He is interred at Pasco, Washington, in City View Cemetery, Block 03, Lot 22, Grave 07.
(6) Minnie Virginia Garver (circa 1865 to before 1895) wed Charles Roscoe Clarke with whom she raised one son, Ray Garver Clarke (1892-1942). None of the Clarke family graves have yet been found.
(8) John Edward Garver (1870-1945) was born on November 30, 1870, shortly before his mother, Eliza Jane (Ray) Garver died on December 15, 1870, at the age of thirty-seven, perhaps due in part to complications resulting from childbirth. In 1895 at Noblesville, seat of Hamilton County, Indiana, John wed Cordelia G. Tate (Garver, 1876–1964), the youngest of the four children of Robert J. Tate (1839–1916) and Sophia E. (Anders) Tate (1839–1920). John Edward and Cordelia G. (Tate) Garver raised two sons, both of whom were born in Noblesville, Indiana: (i) Robert William Garver (1896–1976) and (ii) Leonard Ray Garver(1899–1964). The Rev. John Edward Garver became a lawyer and also an ordained minister of the Methodist Episcopal Church. At the time of his death at the age of seventy-four on May 5, 1945, in Weiser. seat of Washington County, Idaho, he was serving there as Judge of the Probate Court for Washington County. John Edward and Cordelia (Tate) Garver are interred at Mountain View Cemetery in Walla Walla, seat of Walla Walla County, Washington.

THE TWO MARRIAGES OF DR. ALBERT S. GARVER:
(1) On May 13, 1891, in Hamilton County, Dr. Albert S. Garver wed Mary Baither (Garver, 1872–1911), the daughter of Christian Abraham Baither (1841–1901) and Louisa (Prigfogle) Baither (1847–1908). Of their ten children, Mary was the second to be born. Immediately below, the Memorials of these children are linked to one another and to those of their parents. Together, Dr. Albert S. Garver and Mary (Baither) Garver raised one son, Jesse Albert Garver (1892–1970).
(2) On July 30, 1913, Dr. Albert Garver wed Julia Ann Muegge (Garver, 1880-1962), the daughter of German immigrants from the Kingdom of Prussia, Henry Jungs (probably "Jung") (circa 1859 to unknown) and a mother tentatively identified as Hannah K. Muegge (1860-1881) who is interred along with Julia Ann (Muegge) Garver (1880-1962) beneath the same grave monument .

DEATH & INTERMENT: Dr. Albert S. Garver died on April 7, 1929, at Lima, seat of Adams County, Illinois, and was interred several days later on the Garver family plot in Bethany Cemetery at Tioga in Hancock County, Illinois.
