J.B. began his career in accounting at Claussen’s Bakery before moving to the position of auditor for the Richmond County Board of Education. He served as that Board’s Chief Financial Officer for many years prior to his retirement.
He was a founding member of Bel-Ridge Baptist Church and served in many capacities during his 61 years of his membership. He taught the Andrew Bible Class for over 40 years until his recent decline in health.
J.B. was a respected member of his profession, his church, and his community. His love of golf, his family, and his Lord shaped a life of service.
Additional survivors include one son, Dr. Wade Brantley Blount and his wife Page; a granddaughter, Alison Blount Powell and her husband Josh; two great grandsons, Asher Brantley and Cole Robert Powell; and a brother, Jerry Franklin Blount and his wife, Sandra.
