Bill was born on November 22, 1926 in Edith, in Coke County, Texas.
Bill served in the United States Navy in World War 2 in Guam. He worked in the oilfields, worked as a carpenter with Bill Hendricks in Winters, Central Power and Light Co., in Pearsall, Texas, Central Texas Coop., in Mason, Texas, West Texas Utilities in Abilene and Coleman County Electric Coop., until his retirement in 1993.
Bill was preceded in death by: his first wife, Dorothy Ellen Bishop Ivey; two sisters, Oletha Beggs and Evelyn Dilly and one brother, Clifford Ivey.
Bill is survived by: his second wife of 17 years, Helen Mann Geyer Ivey, of Winters, whom he married on August 5, 1989 in the Assembly of God Church in Divine. One daughter, Judy Elaine Anderson of Abilene, Texas. Two sons, William Ray Ivey of Amarillo, Texas, and Royce Wayne Ivey of Abilene, Texas. One grandson, J. W. Anderson. Three granddaughters, Kiva Harris, Keri Ivey and Gessica Rollins. Five great-grandchildren. One step-daughter, Margaret Grammer and husband James of Springtown, Texas. Three step-sons, Leonard Geyer, Sr., and wife Gail, Donald Geyer, Sr., and wife Loretta and Edmund Geyer III and wife Annetta, all of Moore, Texas. Eleven step-grandchildren, Shelia Frost, Tracy Brannon, Melony Blundell, Leonard Geyer, Jr., Landon Geyer, Paula Geyer, Donny Geyer, Jr., Aaron Geyer, Danielle Geyer, Edmund Geyer, IV and Cheynne Geyer. Seven step-great-grandchildren. Three brothers, Henry Lee Ivey and wife Youlanda of Zapata, Texas, Lindon (Hopp) Joe Ivey of Winters, and Carl Ivey and wife Mary Ann of San Angelo. Five sisters, Dorothy Offett of Fort Smith, Arkansas, Frances Swafford of Zeigler, Illinois, Mary Lou Springs and husband James of Luling, Texas, Hazel Edwards of Bastrop, Texas, and Tomme Ann McCarty of Grants Pass, Oregon.
Services will be held at 4:00 p.m. on Sunday, September 24, 2006 in the Winters Funeral Home Chapel with Rev's. Vernon Groce and Terry Loehman officiating. Burial will be in Lakeview Cemetery directed by Winters Funeral Home. The family will receive friends and visitors at 5:00 p.m. on Saturday, September 23, 2006, at the funeral home.
