Mrs. America S. Ryan
Abingdon, Ill., May 10. - Funeral services for Mrs. America S. Ryan, 96, who died in a nursing home Sunday evening leaving 157 survivors, will be held Wednesday morning at 10 in the Newman funeral home at Abingdon and at 3 in the afternoon in the Richfield Christian church. The Rev. J. H. Cusic will officiate at morning services; the Rev. Lee Anthony of Quincy will officiate at afternoon services. Burial will be at the Frank cemetery.
Mrs. Ryan, daughter of Americus and Hanna Belts Thomas, was born Jan. 7, 1870, in Richfield township. She married Elijah Ryan in 1891. They had six sons and four daughters. She was a member of the Richfield Christian church.
Surviving are a son, Lionel Ryan of Galesburg; four daughters, Mrs. Bertha Schaeffer of Quincy, Mrs. Sophia Uhland of Liberty, Mrs. Imo Snyder of Alpha, and Mrs. Idella Wagy of St. Augustine; a foster-daughter, Mrs. Rose Marie Mudd of Quincy; and a brother Will Carr of La Prairie.
Also surviving are 29 grandchildren, 82 great-grandchildren, and 29 great-great-grandchildren.
Her husband, five sons, a brother and five sisters preceded her in death.
