ADAM C. CONFER
AGE 79 YEARS
February 25, 2016
Williamsport Sun-Gazette

Adam C. Confer, of Williamsport, went to be with his Lord, Jesus Christ on Monday, Feb. 22, 2016, while at the Gatehouse. He was surrounded by his loving family. Adam bravely fought a near month long battle with multiple heart attacks, yet was always kind and cheerful to everyone. Adam was so beloved, his family members took round the clock shifts so that he was never alone. Usually there were multiple members, but at least one of his family was with him at all times.

Mr. Confer was born in Spring Mills, Centre County, on Feb. 7, 1937, to the late William S. and Gladys Irene (DeLong) Confer.

Adam was married to the love of his life, Rosemarie (Stewart) Confer on Jan. 14, 1956. They just celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary together.

In 1974 at the business he co-owned with the late August (Sonny) Edkin (A&A Auto Alignment) Adam was caught up in a gasoline vapor explosion fire that badly burned him. He suffered second and third degree burns over 60% of his body. After a long recovery that included multiple skin grafts and surgeries, Adam reopened the business as the sole proprietor, renaming it "Adam's Auto Alignment." He continued to work another 26 years until he retired and handed the business over to his younger son, Gregory Confer, who operates the business today.

A testament to his dedication as a father, he saw to it when one of his children needed their GED, Adam attended classes also. They both did well and Adam scored so highly he was conferred his High School Diploma for the Class of 1955.

Adam's favorite pastime was riding his Harley motorcycle, something he enjoyed until age 76. He also enjoyed bingo with his daughter and grandchildren, doing crossword puzzles, listening to country music and bowling. Adam was also an excellent ballroom dancer. In 1976, he was a judge for the former Williamsport Corvette Club Show at Bowman Field.

Surviving Mr. Confer are his wife, Rosemarie; two sons, Mark Adam of Williamsport, Gregory of Loganton; and daughter, Jill of Williamsport.

There are nine grandchildren and five great-grandchildren..
Adam is also survived by one sister, Lucille of Williamsport.

He also leaves behind his beloved cat, Simon.

Adam was preceded in death by a sister, Ruth Seeley and a brother, William J. Confer. Also preceding him was a daughter, Karen (Confer) Dudek.

Burial will be in Wildwood Cemetery.
