Marilyn M. Tauer, age 80, of Watertown, SD, passed away on Wednesday, February 24, 2016 at Prairie Lakes Hospital. Memorial services will be at 10:30 a.m., February 29, 2016 at the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Watertown with Father Paul Rutten as celebrant. Music will be furnished by the Immaculate Conception Funeral Choir.
Visitation will be for one hour prior to the service on Monday at the church.
Interment will be in St. Mary's Cemetery, Watertown, SD.
Honorary Urn Bearers will be Mandy Lentz, Matt Miller and Mitch Miller.
Marilyn Maxine Tauer was born October 28, 1935 to Glen and Charolette (Kriens) Keyes in Henry, South Dakota. She attended country school near home and graduated from Watertown High School. In February 1954 she married Peter F. Tauer in Watertown where they made their home. The couple had six children and Marilyn worked at home as a housewife and mother.
Marilyn was a member of the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church.
She enjoyed baking and going out to eat. Marilyn especially loved playing bingo with her family and loved family get-togethers.
Marilyn is survived by her children: Peter "Johnny" Tauer, Kim (Mark) Miller, Richard Tauer of Watertown, SD, David Tauer of Aberdeen, SD, Mary (Elton) Fordyce, and Greg Tauer; eight grandchildren; one brother, Dick Tauer of Texas; two sisters, Janice Sharp of Watertown, SD, and Carol O'Neill of Henry, SD.
She was preceded in death by her parents and one grandchild.
