Monica was born April 11, 1974, in Jacksonville and moved to this area in 1977.

Monica enjoyed traveling and had visited Southeast Asia, Europe, South Pacific, South America and within the United States.

She was a 1992 graduate of DeLand High School.

She attended Florida State University and was a graduate of Mercer University College of Law. Having passed the Florida Bar, she was an attorney with the Public Defenders Office in Monroe County, Fla.

She loved music, especially Wide Spread Panic and The Black Crows. Her other enjoyment was sailing.

She is preceded in death by her father, Manuel Abello, M.D., and sister, Patricia Lynn Abello.
