Frances Sterle, born to Agnes Zgonc Sterle & Louis Sterle in 1917. Frances was the youngest daughter in her family of 12, including her namesake, five year old Fanny, who died before she was born.

At age 14, Frances left school to care for her mother who was terminally ill, along with having the responsibility of running the household for her father and brothers. This overwhelming responsibility and the loss of her own mother at such a young age impacted her entire life.

Married to Nick "Babe" Bailey for 64 years, they lived independently in their own home, until his death at age 91, in 2005.

Fanny loved spending time with her sisters and nieces, dancing the polka, painting and restoring items, baking and took much pride in her home. She was an active member of St Nicholas Byzantine Catholic Church and a founding member of the Allenside Athletic Club Women's Auxiliary and was involved in many volunteer activities for both, along with being a member of the Kenmore Senior Citizens' group and the Slovene Lodge.

Frances "Fanny" Sterle Bailey, age 98, died on Saturday, February 20th 2016.

She is survived by her daughter, Carol Bailey Shea (Dan), of Charlotte, NC. She spent as much time as she could with her grandchildren, while they were young, Mary Kay from Charlotte, NC, Daniel (Tina), Galena, Ohio; Michael (Lynnda), Davidson NC, Brigid Shea Tingiris (Steve), Tampa FL; and her great-grandchildren, Kelly, Samantha, Isabella, Alexander and Ivy. She was especially endeared to Nettie Bailey, Sue Bailey Pruc and Dan Bailey; along with her special friend and care-giver Dee Davis.

Her family is grateful and feels especially blessed for the professional care and extraordinary kindness shown to her by the staff at the Chapel Hill Retirement Community.

Graveside Service will take place at Holy Cross Cemetery in Akron at 11 a.m. TOMORROW, Wednesday, February 24, Father Miran of St Nicholas Byzantine Catholic Church, officiating. A Celebration of her life and luncheon will take place immediately following the burial at St. Nicholas BCC, 1051 Robinson Ave. in Barberton Ohio. (Anthony, Akron, 330.724.1281, anthonyfh.com)
