Paul Wayne Chamblin, of West Union, died peacefully Sunday, Feb. 21, 2016 surrounded by loved ones.
Wayne was a successful businessman, having owned and operated Chamblin Furniture Company for 44 years. He and his wife, Joyce, worked side by side until her death in 2003. He took great pride in offering quality, American-made products to the good people of Adams County and surrounding areas. A graduate of the University of Cincinnati, Wayne had an electrical engineering career with NASA and General Electric prior to opening Chamblin Furniture. He was a proud member of the U.S. Air Force and Marine Corp. He was a 32nd degree Mason.
His greatest joys in life were his strong faith, friends in Christ at the Winchester Church of Christ in Christian Union, family and business. Most of all, Wayne lived his life to serve his Lord. He never met a stranger, always greeting you with a smile and embrace. He always left you with a "God bless you." He faced every adversity with a positive attitude and unwavering knowledge that God would lift him up.
Wayne was preceded in death by his loving wife, Joyce (Butcher) Chamblin; parents, Paul and Agnes (Bradford) Chamblin; sister and brother-in-law, Doris and Bob Gilkison; and brother, Ronald Chamblin.
He is survived by a daughter, Cathy Simon and Jamie of Poland, Ohio; daughter, Paula Chamblin Aulino and Michael of Upper Arlington; and one beloved grandaughter, Lily Kate Aulino. He will be greatly missed by one surviving sister, Mary Ellen McCarty (Mike) of Hillsboro; one brother, Milton Chamblin (Loretta) of Dayton; and one brother, Rodney Chamblin (Donna) of Mason.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that you donate to "Uplifted Hearts," A Paul Wayne Chamblin Family Foundation, continuing the support of various causes helping children in need. Donations can be sent to Fifth Third Bank, 500 E. Main St., West Union, Ohio 45693.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, Feb. 27 at 10 a.m. at the Winchester Church of Christ and Christian Union Church under the direction of the Thompson-Meeker Funeral Home with Dan Harrison officiating. Burial will follow in the Locust Grove Cemetery, with military graveside services by the Adams County Honor Guard.
Visitation will be held Friday, Feb. 26 from 5-8 P.M. with Masonic and Scottish Rite services at 8 P.M. at the Thompson-Meeker Funeral Home, West Union.
The family would like to thank the kind and compassionate staff of The James Cancer Center and the Kobacker House hospice.
