Bill was born on November 25, 1931 to Sam and Esther Butler in Omega, Oklahoma and passed away on Saturday, February 20, 2016 in Weatherford, Oklahoma. He was raised on the family farm west of Omega, Oklahoma and attended Omega Public Schools, graduating Omega High School in 1949. He operated a service station in Watonga until 1958. In 1958 he joined the Oklahoma Highway Patrol, proudly serving for 26 years, before retiring in 1984. He worked as a patrolman in Guymon, Clinton, and Weatherford and finally as a lake patrol for many years in Western Oklahoma. He also worked for 10 years in the security business. Bill enjoyed being on the lake fishing, fish frys, playing dominoes and cards, and spending time with family and friends. Memorials may be made to the Retired Oklahoma Highway Patrol Association.
Bill is survived by his wife Vera Butler of the home in Weatherford; two sons, Jerry Butler of Weatherford, and Dylan Butler and his wife Mikaela Ifrim of Oman; five grandchildren; seven great grandchildren; and one great-great grandchild. He was preceded in death by his parents; two daughters, Diane and Charlotte; one son, Mitch; and a great granddaughter, Stephanie.
