Diane was born on January 1, 1939, in Des Moines, IA, the daughter of Wayne C. and Kathleen L. (Lane) Browning. She received a bachelor’s degree from McPherson College in 1961. On June 1, 1965, Diane was united in marriage to Garth L. Werner in McPherson, KS.
She was a member of McPherson Church of the Brethren and the National Association of Wheat Weavers. She also served on the YMCA Board of Directors and was a Cedars Volunteer.
Survivors include: her husband of 50 years, Garth Werner of the home; two daughters, Kathy Cherry (Patrick) of Richmond, TX and Sara Frankenbery (Todd) of Benton, KS; brother, Don Browning of Chandler, AZ; and four grandchildren, Ashley Frankenbery Long (Cole), Katie Frankenbery, Marisa Cherry, and Megan Cherry.
The memorial service will be held at 11:00 AM, Saturday, March 5, 2016, at McPherson Church of the Brethren with Rev. Chris Whitacre officiating. A private family inurnment will take place at McPherson Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be given to McPherson Church of the Brethren, McPherson Public Library, or McPherson Family YMCA in care of Stockham Family Funeral Home, 205 North Chestnut, McPherson, KS 67460.
