Born in Vicksburg, Mississippi, he was the oldest son of Benjamin Brachfield, born in Hungary and Yetta Baruch Brachfield, born in Poland. The family relocated to Henderson, Rusk County, about 1877. Mr. Brachfield attended Henderson College and read law with a private attorney and judge. He was admitted to the bar in 1890 and established a legal practice in Henderson, which he continued until his death. During this time he served several terms as a county judge, district court judge and served in the Texas senate from 1903-1910. He never married and is buried in the family plot in Beth Israel cemetery.
