Grace Ellis (Felts) Whitaker was born on August 21, 1971, the daughter of Joseph W Felts (1846–1914) and Addie Tennessee (Hardister) Felts (1842–1934).

She was married about 1893 to George Milton Whitaker (1865–1917), the son of James M Whitaker and Susannah (McKnight) Whitaker.

Living at 2204 11th Avenue South, Nashville, she was 64 years old and a widow when she died at Nashville General Hospital of a cerebral hemorrhage on June 30, 1936. Burial was on July 2nd in Mount Olivet Cemetery.
