Macon, GA- After a long decline, Anna Colley Allen departed this life on February 19, 2016.

Born in Deland, Florida on March 3, 1924, Anna was the fourth of William and Elizabeth Young Colley's six children.

Upon graduating as a registered nurse from Spring Hill College's City Hospital, Mobile, Alabama, Anna began a lifelong vocation caring for the health and well-being of others as a public health nurse and district director of Children's Medical Services. Anna was a president of the Georgia Nurses' Association 6th District and served on the association's State Board. Proud to be a RN, she maintained her license well into retirement. She volunteered with Red Cross, Loaves and Fishes Ministry, and served as Sunday School secretary for thirty years. Anna moved to Macon upon her marriage to Arthur Clayton Gledhill, Jr. Widowed for two years, she married Carl Lee Allen and began life as a Navy wife. She and Carl loved to travel, especially with their grandchildren. She sorely regretted not visiting the Pyramids.

Anna is survived by her children, Renee Gledhill-Earley (Lawrence), A.C. "Butch" Gledhill (Pam), Carl L. Allen, Jr.; Grandchildren, Amie Craig (Kevin); Christopher Allen (Clarissa), A.C. "Clay" Gledhill (Carol), Clinton Gledhill (Stephanie), Derek Lewis (Brittany), eight great grandchildren; brother, George Y. Colley; and special niece, Wanda Ball.

Miss Anna remained in her home with the kind and patient care of Jacqutta Brown, Patsy Woodford, Violet Towles, Fannie Pettigrew and the staff of Pruitt Hospice.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Loaves and Fishes, 651 MLK Jr. Blvd., Macon, GA 31201.
