Funeral services for Mrs. Elizabeth Ann "Betty" Arnold of El Reno were held Friday, Sept. 22 at First Christian Church with Rev. Richard Newman officiating. Burial was in the El Reno Cemetery under direction of Wilson Funeral Home.
Betty died Tuesday, Sept. 19, 2006, at her home. She was born Sept. 15, 1930, in Oklahoma City. She grew up and attended schools in Oklahoma, Texas and Louisiana. Betty moved back to El Reno where she attended and was a 1947 graduate of El Reno High School. While in high school she played clarinet for the Pride of El Reno band. She attended Oklahoma State University in Stillwater.
A 58-year marriage began on June 27, 1948, when Betty married Bob Arnold. While devoted to her family, she found time to be a kindergarten teacher and served as registrar and assistant librarian at Etta Dale Junior High School. Betty was the "Shaklee Queen of El Reno," and befriended all she served with her gracious energy.
She was a member of First Christian Church and also a member of the Order of the Eastern Star for over 50 years.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Clem A. Cherry and Elizabeth "Betty" Bean Cherry Wilson.
Survivors include her husband, Bob Arnold of the home; her daughter, Lynda Fogg and husband, Richard of El Reno; her son, Rick Arnold and wife, Robyn of El Reno; a brother, Cy Cherry of Fort Lauderdale, Fla.; grandchildren, Deanne Lagaly and husband, Kent of El Reno, Derek Holland and wife, Jenna of El Reno, Nick Arnold and wife, April of Conroe, Texas, Ricky Arnold, Rob Arnold, Ryan Arnold and John Fogg, all of El Reno, and Rob Fogg and wife, Heather of Nashville, Tenn. Thirteen great-grandchildren have had the fortunate blessing of having Betty in their lives.
The family suggests memorials be made to First Christian Church, 400 S. Barker, El Reno, Okla. 73036.
