Amos G. Clay, Sr. age 81, of Toledo, passed away February 16, 2016 at his home. He was born December 5, 1934 to Alexander and Lottie in Roxboro, North Carolina. Amos graduated from Person County High School in 1952. He served his country in the U.S. Army as a tank driver. He returned to Toledo and graduated in 1972 from Mary Manse College. He received his Master’s Degree from the University of Toledo in 1976. He was preceded in death by his parents, 10 siblings. Amos is survived by his wife, Shirley J. Clay; son, Amos G. “Randy” (Lisa) Clay, Jr.; granddaughters, Elizabeth Jean, Sydney Jean and Virginia (Marcus); grandson, Alexander; great grandchildren, Joseph and Raya; sister, Virginia Williams, of Auburn, AL; and many nieces, nephews and dear friends. The family will receive guests February 22, 2016 from 11:00 a.m. – 12:00 p.m. at Newcomer Funeral Home, 4150 W. Laskey Rd., Toledo with Funeral Services beginning at 12:00 p.m. in the funeral home. Burial will follow in Ottawa Hills Memorial Park. Those wishing to make memorial contributions are asked to consider a charity of the donor’s choice.
