Golda Faucette Humphrey
February 21, 1920 - February 8, 2016

Golda Faucette Humphrey, 95, of Grand Junction, CO, passed away Monday, February 8, 2016 at Palisades Living Center.

Funeral Services will be 1:00 pm Tuesday, February 16, 2016 at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints Redlands Chapel, 2235 Kingston Rd., Grand Junction, CO. Visitation will be 12-1pm, prior to the service.

Interment immediately following the service at Memorial Gardens.

Golda was born on February 21, 1920 in Sanford, Colorado, to Earl Dixon Faucette and Florence Kady (Cornum) Faucette. Golda was the youngest of five children.

Golda served a Mission for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Kentucky and Tennessee. The Gospel of Jesus Christ was one of the most important things to Golda throughout her life.

After her mission, Golda worked in Salt Lake City and then Los Angeles, where she also served a stake mission for the LDS church.

Golda was treasured as the doting, "favorite" aunt, especially by her nieces.

While in California, Golda met Robert Humphrey at a dance and after a courtship, they were united in marriage on March 29, 1958 in the Los Angeles Temple. They became the loving parents of two sons: Greg and Brian. As a new mother, Golda was a meticulous housekeeper, watched other children in her home, and sold BeeLine apparel and health foods.

Golda showed exceptional musical ability at an early age. She composed music that touched the heart, arranged and directed a myriad of musical programs, and sang beautifully in her church choir and with The Singing Mothers; she also did solo vocal work. She was known to always have notebooks and loose papers, constantly composing. Her masterpiece was a Cantata.

Golda was a talented artist, always with a sketch book on hand; she also painted. Her nieces recall her decorating skill, scattering art, as well as joy, everywhere she lived and went.

Golda was a ray of sunshine, always sweet and smiling. She could brighten any room with her perpetual cheerfulness and unrelenting positive spirit. Golda had love in her heart for everyone, especially for her family.

Golda took exceptional, loving care of her mother, Flossy, in her home during the latter years of her life and through devastating illness. Golda made sure her mother had the best care and everything was being done to keep her as comfortable as possible. She kept her mother immaculate through it all. Her mother wrote of Golda during this time, "She is always patient, caring, and prayerful."

Golda was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; her brothers: Reese and Frances Faucette; her sisters: Mary Cunningham and Faye Hamill; and her niece, Mary Lynn McNutt. Following Golda in passing, her niece, Kady Gayle Cunningham Giles on February 10, 2016.

Surviving Golda are sons: Wayne Humphrey, of Seattle, WA, Greg and Brian Humphrey, both of Grand Junction, CO; nine grandchildren; many nieces, nephews and great-grandchildren.

Golda will forever be remembered for her child-like joy of life, love of music, unending optimism, generosity, and spirit of gratitude.
