Ms. Rosa Elia Acosta, age 50, of Dalton, Georgia, departed this life Sunday afternoon, February 14, 2016 at the local hospital. Rosa was born September 21, 1965 in Dimmitt, Texas. Rosa was a 1984 graduate of Southeast High School and attended Dalton State College. She was employed with her sister at Notaria Publica de Enedina. She was a member of Saint Joseph’s Catholic Church. Rosa was a people person. She loved fashion, music, dancing, singing, photography and Hollywood. Enjoyed Entertainment Tonight and People Magazine. But the true love of her life was her family and spending time with her grandchildren.
She is survived by her husband, Silvester Martinez of Dalton, GA; mother, Elva Alicia Dominguez Acosta of Dalton; children, Sergio and Amy Lizaola, Rachelle J. Trejo-Acosta; grandchildren, Sergio Lizaola, Jr. and Giovanni Lizaola; brothers and sister-in-law, Alonso Acosta of Cleveland, TN, Jose and Sarah Acosta of Dalton, GA; sisters and brothers-in-law, Enedina Acosta, Martha and Manuel Lopez of Dalton, GA, Elva Acosta-Paggi and Giancarlo Paggi of Atlanta, GA; Sylvia Acosta Carrillo of Kennesaw, GA; step-children, Crystal Martinez, Mayra Martinez, Bruno Sanchez and Thalia Martinez; sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law, Arminda and Lolo Martinez, Luz Martinez, Luis and Amy Martinez, Simona Martinez, Alma Martinez and Beto, Clementina Martinez, Francisco Martinez and Raul Martinez; several step-grandchildren, many nieces and nephews and cousins.
Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Thursday morning, February 18, 2016 at 11:00 a.m. at Saint Joseph’s Catholic Church with Father Tim Nadoliski officiating. She will be laid to rest at Ponders Whitfield Memorial Gardens with her nephews, Jose Luis Hernandez, Juan Azua, Adrian Lopez, Cameron Martinez, Daniel Rodriguez, Christian Hernandez, Stefan Hernandez and Marcos Martinez serving as pallbearers. The family will receive friends at Ponders Melrose Chapel from 6:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. Tuesday and Wednesday with the Rosary being held Wednesday evening at 7:00 p.m.
