Marie Fedora Hubbard was born on November 13, 1894, in British Guiana. Her parents were Thomas Hubbard and Euphemia Whitehead Hubbard (1865-1954). She had one daughter with Albert Rodriques (Carmen Elaine), who was born on August 9, 1915. She followed other family members to America along with her young daughter. After immigrating through Ellis Island, she settled into Brooklyn, New York. Records show she married Edward Mason on or around September 24, 1930. She performed domestic work. She would host "rent parties" supplying food, drink and music and charge admission to pay her rent. Next, she married Percy Collymore. After they divorced, she later married Emmanuel A Zaphereoun, a Greek Chef. After his death, she retired to Arizona by way of New Mexico. "Grandma" Marie was known to be independent, adventurous, affectionate, and loving. She was very family oriented. At one time there were four generations living in her house in Brooklyn as well as a sister and brother who lived within walking distance. She was known for her cooking and her homemade ginger beer. She also loved ice cream and ate it as often as possible. She died on May 5, 1990, in Tucson, Arizona, at the age of 95 and is buried at East Lawn Cemetery.
Buried in the same plot is her daughter, Carmen Elaine Rodriques Wright.

Shared grave marker with Carmen E. Wright, (1915-2005).
