BUFFALO - Emmett S. O'Shields, 82, of 3657 West Springs Highway died Nov. 16, 2001, at Ellen Sagar Nursing Home after a brief illness.

A native of Spartanburg County, he was the widower of Lenna Fowler O'Shields and a son of the late J.W. and Helen Smith O'Shields.

He was a graduate of West Springs High School, a member of the Putman Baptist Church, where he was a member of the Victory Bible Sunday School class and was retired from J.P. Stevens of Jonesville.

Survivors include two sisters, Matrel Stribling of Union and Hazel Babb of Buffalo; and a brother, Horace T. O'Shields of Panama City, Fla.

The family will receive friends after the funeral services today in the church. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. today at Putman Baptist Church, conducted by the Revs. Donald Tillman and Ray Harold Belue. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The body will be placed in the church at 1 p.m. Sunday.

The family is at the home of his sister, Hazel Babb, 3639 Buffalo-West Springs Highway. Memorials may be made to Putman Baptist Church, 3692 Buffalo-West Springs Highway, Buffalo, S.C., 29321; or to Palmetto Hospice, Homecare Resources of the Midlands, P.O. Box 7275, Columbia, S.C., 29202.
