Miss Mattie Dyer Hager was born on January 27, 1866 in Hartsville, Tennessee, the daughter of Andrew Jackson Hager (1824-1918) and Martha Ann (Satterfield) Hager (1827-1901).
A 50-year-resident of Nashville, and living at Little Sisters of the Poor Home, she was 73 years old and single when she died of chronic bronchial asthma on October 26, 1939 at Saint Thomas Hospital where she had been for a day. Burial was the next day in Mount Olivet Cemetery, Nashville.
