Evelyn Spaeth Felderhoff was born on June 1, 1925, on the family farm just northeast of Lindsay, Texas, the eighth child of George and Elizabeth Spaeth. She graduated from Lindsay High School in 1942. On October 26, 1948 she married Arthur Felderhoff at St. Peter's Church in Lindsay. The new couple made their home in Muenster where Arthur was owner and operator of Muenster Milling Company. From the earliest days of their marriage, Evelyn helped Arthur at the Mill when an opportunity presented itself and eventually became the bookkeeper for the growing business.
"Evie," as most people called her, was active in the local community and was a member of Sacred Heart Parish. She was a member of the St. Anne's Society and served as treasurer for the church's finance committee for several years in the 1980s. For 19 years, from 1981-2000, Evie worked with Sacred Heart High School teacher Joe Caserta as a volunteer and advisor to students who were learning the ins and outs of the Stock Market.
Evie was a devoted and loving wife and mother. She was an extremely creative person and enjoyed people from all walks of life. As the saying goes, "she never met a stranger." She was famously known for her homemade sweet rolls and bread and was an accomplished seamstress. She loved games of all sorts and for years was a member in a 42 club and a poker club. She enjoyed music and loved to entertain, which she and Arthur did often. Together they hosted many parties for family, friends and co-workers. Evie was particularly interested in genealogy and spent many hours researching her family history. In 2012 she published her memoirs, fulfilling a long-desired dream. Copies of her book are available in the Muenster Library and Muenster Museum.
Evelyn is survived by her loving and devoted husband of 67 years, Arthur; daughters, Diann Hultstrand and husband Bob, Gina Pape and husband Ken, Sherie Killgo and husband Kory; sons, Dale Felderhoff and wife Julie, Ronnie Felderhoff and wife Sharon; thirteen grandchildren and eleven great-grandchildren; one sister, Georgia Barry of Dallas, sister-in-laws, Imelda Rohmer, Mary Ann Walterscheid, and Mickey Spaeth, and numerous nieces and nephews.
Evelyn was preceded in death by her parents, George and Elizabeth Spaeth; sisters Mary Haverkamp, Agnes Kneupper, Frances Spaeth, Tillie Schoech, Polly Reiter, and Theresa Mae Kuta; brothers Henry Spaeth and Frank Joseph (Joe) Spaeth; in-laws, Lee Haverkamp, Joe Kneupper, Andrew Schoech, Wilfred Reiter, Mark Kuta, Walter Barry, Loretta Spaeth, Arnold Rohmer, Norbert Walterscheid, and Sister Georgia Felderhoff, OSB.
In lieu of flowers, the family would gratefully appreciate memorial contributions to the Sacred Heart Chapel fund.
