Doris Elaine Geo Lund
March 6, 1930 - July 3, 2009

A funeral service will be held for Doris Elaine Lund, 79, of Chehalis, Wash., at 10:30 a.m., Monday, July 13, at First Christian Church in Chehalis, Wash., with a graveside service to follow at Claquato Cemetery in Chehalis. A reception will follow at the Adna Grange.

Doris was born March 6, 1930, in Rest, Kan., to Charles and Susie Goe. She died July 3, 2009, at Centralia Providence Hospital due to complications from a stroke. She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother.

The family moved out west due to the drought that killed all their cattle on the farm, living in Renton, Wash., for a short time then moving to Coos Bay. The day after her graduation in 1948, the family moved to Chehalis, where Doris got a job at Highway Reality and sold real estate along with her future brother-in-law. Through him, she met her husband, James Lund, and they were married in 1956. Shortly after in 1957, Jim built the family home where Doris lived until her death. They had two children together, Daryl and Cheryl Lund.

After the children were raised, she worked for Mother Hubbard's Day Care for 10 years, expressing her love for working with children. With her experience teaching Sunday school at the First Christian Church, she was able to obtain her accreditation to teach preschool classes at the day care. She then went on to assist her son at the Chehalis Theatre selling tickets in the box office. She was a member of the First Christian Church of Chehalis and a 50-year Gold Sheaf member and treasurer of the Adna Grange.

Her life was full of love, laughter, caring and sharing with others. Her time was always busy with home life, church, grange and the numerous part-time jobs that she so enjoyed. Her disability with severe rheumatoid arthritis never stopped her, just sometimes slowed her down a bit. Her positive attitude was so overwhelming that it rubbed off on just about everyone she came in contact with. One of the most wonderful times of her life is when her grandson, Robert, was born. She was a very essential part of his childhood and she was so thrilled when Robert and his fiancée, Sandra, gave her the first great-grandson. She loved to sing and teach her great-grandson the songs that her son, daughter and grandson grew up with. Her family will miss and cherish her forever in their hearts.

She is survived by her son, Daryl J. Lund; daughter, Cheryl E. Lund; grandson, Robert (Sandra) Scotton; great-grandson, Lane Robert Scotton; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Doris was preceded in death by her parents, husband, brothers, Gerald and Donald Goe; and sisters, Lorraine Olson and Norma Goe.

Arrangements are under the direction of Brown Mortuary Service in Chehalis.
