He married Mary Schmidt in Germany on June 13, 1905.
In addition to his wife, he leaves four sons, Frank of Syracuse, Charles of Dolgeville, Herman and Edward of Little Falls; two daughters, Emma at home and Mrs. Arthur Reardon of Little Falls; two brothers, Herman of Rural Grove and Jacob in Germany; also seven granddaughters.
